Pakistan In Fusion with Spices

foodflag-pakistan                                     “After a good dinner one can forgive anybody, even one’s own relations.”

Oscar Wilde,

Writing about food is one of the toughest thing if one is  sitting in hostel without a spicy plate of Biryani, few Pakoray or Nihari because the  enzymes in our stomach are more active than love signals our heart gives when  we see our first crush.

                     ChapliKebab-Punjabipani-puri gol gappay (1)

I often find myself more attracted to food and that makes me doubt if  I will be forever alone or will have food as my companion forever.

One cannot complete her/his day without some spicy biryani, mouth-watering gol gappay and crispy samosay.

It’s said that human beings eat because they need to live, however I feel we live  because we need to eat and that’s what makes our taste towards food so enriched       and  exotic.  A good thing about ur food is the Desi touch which can never be enjoyed better than  Dhabas and the Desi hotels.

For us, food is not something we eat to survive only, it’s something we use to       socialize, talk about when we don’t know the other person and be the best hosts of course  because  I feel foreigners love our Pakistani food.

Our food is more like a cultural construct to us, something which unites us together  while we don’t  give up  on dividing  ourselves  on  different  basis our  food is the only one thing  which is diverse yet almost similar with same taste and   spices. I feel our food is actually something we feel happy eating unlike eating bread  with curry  and noodles with curry which one needs because they feel   hungry,  our food is something we eat because we cannot resist it.

The food we cook has many criticism attached to it because of the enriched  flavors            ,  spices and plenty of oil with hours of cooking which doctors claim  doesn’t  leave it healthy and nutritious anymore, however I believe the healthy food                doctors  recommend is so impossible to survive on.

I loved the quote, “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” It is so true. In our Pakistani culture, food is not only the means of socializing with friends and family, but it also serves as one of the many things, we as Pakistanis, should take pride in.
A great read article, thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Food is something that sooths you. Our Pakistani food is much more than a platter of food, it is the representation of our culture and who we are as a nation. There may be many cuisines world wide but to me our’s is the best

This article has certainly highlighted the main differentiating point of our food with the rest of the world. Spices no doubt add a unique flavor to our food; which makes foreigners drooling over it too !!

This is one thing we are good at. Our food speaks, it depicts emotions, and emotions is also something we are good at.
As far as curry is concerned Mumtaz mufti ( senior Pakistani novel writer) has a lot to say about it .
Comprehensively , fair point well made!
